What’s coming for Quickservice: Top Trends for 2012

Happy New Year!  2011 was another dynamic year for the restaurant industry but with a positive spin.

While the final numbers are still being tallied, restaurant industry sales were expected “to reach a record $604 billion and post positive growth in 2011 after a three-year period of negative real sales growth, according to the National Restaurant Association 2011 Restaurant Industry Forecast. Sales were projected to advance 3.6 percent over 2010 sales, which equals 1.1 percent in real (inflation-adjusted) terms.” (NRA, 2011)

Spurring on the growth has been the Quickserve segment which has been helping diners through the economic downturn with a variety of pricing deals and value plans.  Menus have been revamped and advertising increased.  This year will continue such trends if the Quickservice Restaurant operators play their cards right.  And in this channel, as in others in the Foodservice world, being on trend with consumer’s needs and desires gets you into the race for these dollars.
