Meet Kate
Background:
Kate Ruffing is a woman of many worlds. She is a global citizen volunteer, artist, athlete, author and the Chief Innovation Officer at Flashpoint Strategy. Prior to starting Flashpoint Strategy, she worked at Kraft Foods, Inc. in a variety of business funtions including operations, R&D/Product Development and Brand Management/Marketing.
Her career, and a love for the outdoors, took her to Seattle in 2007 where she worked with Starbucks Coffee Company on B2B Channel/Category Strategy and Bakery Category Innovation.
A graduate of University of Wisconsin-Madison (B.S./M.S.), Kate is a 4-time Varsity Letter Winner in Women's Rowing and served as Captain. She received her M.B.A. from University of Chicago - Booth School of Business with an emphasis in Economics, Marketing and Competitive Strategy. In 2021, she also completed a Certificate in Behavioral Economics from University of Chicago - Booth School of Business.
Kate is active in both her global and local communities serving on multiple boards of directors and advisory councils. She also spends time at Virginia Mason/Memorial Hospital with her Therapy Dog, Luna, as a Comfort Care Volunteer working with Hospice patients.
When she is not filling up her passport, Kate splits her time between Bainbridge Island and Yakima, enjoying local theater and food, restoring cars, creating art, cheering on her favorite sports teams and being outside in the mountains or on the water.
